Canada's Energy East sees more hurdles

Vancouver-Ontario and Quebec, which repre- sent more than 60% of Canada's population, have added a new layer of reviews for two pipe- line projects that could replace about 700,000 b/d of crude imports to the two provinces with oil sands and light crude from Western Canada. The Ontario government said Wednes- day that public hearings would be held on TransCanada's proposed Energy East project, just hours before the Quebec government named a parliamentary commission to probe Enbridge's planned Line 9 reversal to deliver domestic crude to refineries in the Montreal and Quebec City regions.
