ConocoPhillips pumps first oil from Ekofisk extension

London—ConocoPhillips has flowed first oil from a major project designed to help extend the life of Norway’s oldest offshore field Ekofisk by a further 40 years. The Ekofisk South redevelopment project in the Norwegian North Sea began producing oil from the first of 35 new production wells Friday, some two months ahead of schedule, the US oil major and its French partner Total said Monday.
