US gas storage build jumps as autumn weather begins

Knoxville, Tennessee—After well-below-average injections for much of the summer, operators put 67 Bcf of natural gas into storage last week—just shy of the five-year average—as milder weather put a crimp in demand. Inventories now stand at 3.496 Tcf, the Energy Information Administration reported September 20. The net injection for the week ending September 14 was within consensus expectations between 64 Bcf and 68 Bcf. It was significantly below last year’s 89-Bcf injection but close to the five-year average for the week of 73 Bcf.
