Green groups target Texas oil, gas emissions

Houston—Texas oil, gas and petrochemical facilities released more than 90,000 tons of pollution during abnormal events from 2009 through 2011, with natural gas operations accounting for more than 85% of total sulfur dioxide and nearly 80% of volatile organic compounds released, according to an analysis released last week. Issued by the Environmental Integrity Project, the study is based on information gathered from a Texas Commission on Environmental Quality database.
