Moscow—The sinking of a Russian oil drilling rig December 18 with the loss of at least 14 lives has raised questions in Moscow about safety standards after it was alleged the well drilled by the rig had failed environmental requirements. Fourteen bodies have been found so far in Russia’s far eastern Okhotsk Sea where the 26-year-old Kolskaya jackup rig capsized and sank, Russia’s Marine and River Transport Agency said December 19, with a further 39 listed as still missing.
