China's Yanchang Petroleum to tap Thailand gas block

Hong Kong-China's state-owned Yanchang Petroleum said February 26 it has signed an agreement to explore for natural gas in Thailand's northeastern Khorat Basin.The deal was inked February 25 between the Thai energy minister, Wannarat Channukul, and Yanchang Petroleum's chairman, Shen Hao.Under the agreement, Yanchang Petroleum will explore for gas in block L31/50 in the Khorat Basin, where two gas fields are already in production, the Chinese oil company said in a statement on its web site.
