Italy’s Edison hits gas, condensate with well off Egypt

Dubai—Italy’s Edison said March 31 its latest appraisal well on the Abu Qir concession off the coast of Egypt has encountered hydrocarbons with tests showing a cumulative flow of 1.85 million cubic meters/day of gas and 850 b/d of condensate.The well, drilled to a depth of 3,750 meters, will enter into production in 2010, the company said, adding 30% to the current production level at the Abu Qir group of fields.
