Algiers-Algeria has pre-qualified 74 international oil and gas companies for its latest bid round, in which it is offering 10 new exploration and production licenses for development under contracts revised following a disappointing response to its previous licensing round in 2008, officials said July 28. Some 50 oil and gas companies, some of which have not yet been included on the list of pre-qualified majors, attended a presentation of technical data and contract terms held in Algiers on July 27 by Alnaft, the licensing arm of state-owned oil and gas giant Sonatrach.
