Japan's April crude imports dip 11% to 3.97 million b/d

Tokyo-Japan imported 18.919 million kilo-liters (3.97 million b/d) of crude oil in April, down 11.1% from 21.276 million kl in the same month of 2008, the Ministry of Finance said May 27.Japan's crude import price on a CIF basis averaged Yen 29,459/kl ($47.40/barrel) in April, up 9.6% from Yen 26,874/kl in March, according to preliminary figures released by the MOF. The figure represented the third month-on-month increase, in line with strengthening in Western crude benchmarks.
