NYMEX crude up on talk of OPEC oil cut

New York-January crude futures settled $4.46 higher at $47.98/barrel December 11 on the New York Mercantile Exchange, bolstered by a bludgeoning of the US dollar, and short-covering ahead of any possible OPEC production cuts. NYMEX January heating oil settled 10.39 cents higher at $1.5066/gal and January RBOB settled 10.99 cents higher to $1.0786/gal, breaking above the $1/gal mark for the first time in a week. The US Dollar Index on ICE dropped to an intra-day low of 83.282, down as much as 220 points on the day. At the conclusion of NYMEX floor trading, the dollar was down 178.5 points at 83.699.
