Thousands of commodity traders will log on to Yahoo Messenger for the last time on Friday. Ailing internet giant Yahoo is retiring the legacy desktop chat program that has been a part of their working lives -- as an essential communication and business platform -- for the best part of two decades. Launched in 1998, Yahoo revolutionized energy markets as traders gradually gave up the telephone switchboard for the web-based messaging system at the turn of the millennium.
