Firms Close on Canada LNG Export Project

Royal Dutch Shell, Mitsubishi, PetroChina and Korea Gas are said to be teaming up to build a $12.35 billion LNG export terminal in Western Canada's British Columbia. The firms are in the "final stages" of talks to build the facility, potentially the third in the province after Kitimat LNG and BC LNG, Japan's Nikkei business daily reported Thursday. The former, owned by operator Apache (40%), Encana (30%) and EOG Resources (30%), received its exports license last October, while the latter -- a 13-member gas export cooperative -- obtained approval only last Wednesday (IOD Oct.17'11).
