Kuwait's deputy prime minister, Sheikh Ahmad Fahad al-Sabah, resigned Monday after parliamentarians said they planned to question both him and the premier next Tuesday. The emir has ratified the resignation, a government spokesperson told state news agency Kuna. No reason was given for Sheikh Ahmad's decision to quit, but the local media say he was locked in a power struggle with Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Mohammad al-Ahmad al-Sabah, another senior member of the ruling family.
