CMC said importing more rebar for fab shops

Commercial Metals Co. (CMC) has imported substantial amounts of rebar recently, often through Florida, ultimately headed for its downstream rebar fabrication shops, market sources told AMM. “I see CMC buying a lot of import (in Florida) and taking it to their fab shops down there, a lot via Jacksonville,” one rebar market source said. “It’s hundreds of trucks to take to their shops.” Some material for CMC has moved through the Port of Tampa, with significant volumes arriving in April, according to sources.
