After falling by almost 20% earlier this year, the copper price has rallied over the past two months as improved economic data has bolstered investor appetite for the industrial metal. Given a glut of supply from the commissioning of new mines and ramps-up at existing operations in recent years, AME does not expect the hefty price rebound to be sustained and we forecast prices to be around US$7,055/t (US320 cents/lb) in the second half of the year.
