The paper considers problems of ensuring the reliability of relay protection and automation devices of electrical power Systems. The possibilities of encreasing the reliability of anal6g relay protection and automation devices which are exploited are exhausted. With the application of microprocessor relay protection and automation devices greate opportunities are offered for reducing labour expeditures on exploitation and technical maintenance at the same achieved level of the reliability.
