摘要

In an article published in this journal recently, Launay et al. reported a well conducted comparative study of different techniques for the detection of antibodies to double-stranded (ds) DNA [1], The authors concluded that the isotopic Farr assay rather than the enzyme immunoassays (EIAs) or the Crithidia luciliae immunofluorescence tests (CL1FT) demonstrated the best performance regarding the diagnosis and activity assessment of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). The differing data reported underline the need for further standardization efforts in anti-dsDNA testing despite the availability of an international reference preparation.
