Carbopyroceram is obtained through directed crastallization uponcarbohydrate pyrolysis. Highphysicochemical, strength, elastic, andother properties of the material make itpossible to use it, e.g., in the artificial heart valves that mustoperate for many years. Experiments show that carbon which is thecarbopyroceram base is closeto the tissue of the organism in normalelectrochemical potential and in the surface energy thus providingbiocompatibility. The strength, elastic, thermophysical, x-ray structural, and electrical properties of carbopyroceram are studied.
