摘要

In this paper application of nanotechnology in concrete has been reviewed for broadening vision and inspiring the creativity of engineers in Construction Industry. Concrete as it is well known is the vertebral column of any Civil engineering structure and giving more strength to it means giving a straight forward life to the structure. The new researches have thrown light that Nanotechnology has the potential to make construction faster, cheaper, safer, and more varied. Automation of nanotechnology construction can allow for the creation of structures from advanced homes to massive skyscrapers much more quickly and at much lower cost. This paper focuses on nanotechnology based products like low maintenance coating, cementous materials, etc. By significantly improving the performance of sensors and data acquisition systems and reducing their sizes, nanotechnology can also enable the practical deployment of structural health monitoring systems for large civil infrastructure systems and provide vital tools to design an innovative civil infrastructure and facilitate the practice of managing and protecting the civil infrastructure.
