Automation of Arc Discharge Setup for Production of Carbon Nanotubes

摘要

Synthesis of carbon nanotubes by production of an arc between two carbon electrodes in Helium atmosphere is an established process. This paper describes a method to automate such a set up with a provision to control the electrode feed rate. The automation is based on a computer program which runs on Labview software. It permits logging of process parameters such as current and electrode position for further analysis.
