Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) is envisaged as a single common network capable of carrying multimedia services like voice and data, video and facsimile. The key to Broadband ISDN (BISDN) is the digitalization of services, transmission, switching and signaling. The BISDN is the single most important example of the contribution of computer technology to telecommunications. The communion of the computer and communication technologies would provide wider services in a more convenient form in the twenty first century. The ISDN standards, architectures and protocols with reference to their planned implementations and applications have been studies.
