TOMATO PURPLE LEAF: A NSW DISORDER OR DISEASE OF TOMATO?

Tmato growers in several Florida tomato production areas arc now dealing with a new challenge identified as Tomato Purple Leaf Disorder (TPLD). Speaking during the Florida Tomato Institute, held in early September in Naples, Fla., Dr. Gary E. Vallad reported on the disorder that first began showing up in isolated fields in Hillsborough and Manatee counties in 2006. Since then, it has been found in numerous fields throughout both counties, in Miami-Dade County and most recently in Suwannee County.
