摘要

The objective of this study was to examine net photosynthesis and water use efficiency of the four tree species-Pinus sylvestris, Ulmus pumila, Haloxylon ammodendron and Caragana leucophloea-grown in northern part of Mongolia and south Gobi, because these four species are important when .we establish the plantation in these areas. In northern part of Mongolia, photosynthesis of the Pinus sylvestris seedlings grown in nursery was higher than those of the plantation area. In contrast, water use efficiency of Pinus sylvestris seedlings grown in the plantation area was higher than those of the seedlings grown in nursery. In south Gobi, Ulmus pumila showed highest water use efficiency among the tree species.
