Buying activity in the Italian and Spanish domestic markets for scrap remains rather weak. As a result, prices for the material are unchanged and nominal in the first days of May. EU steelmakers are currently in a difficult position. Low buying abroad and at home is pulling sales down; as a result, steelmakers have no need for additional volumes of the material and thus do not revise their purchase prices.
