Optimisation of pulper consistency control in a paper plant

In a paper plant the pulper consistency is difficult to control due to large dead times and various disturbances. This paper presents the design of an automatic pulper consistency controller based upon the white box modeling of the pulper. It also illustrates a successful implementation on paper machine PM7 at Oudegem Papier, a VPK Packaging paper plant in Belgium.
