摘要

Technology is a system of knowledge that makes it possible to create man-made objects useful for people and society. Science is a system of knowledge that explains the relationships between phenomena of the natural world. The background of technological creativity is the technological thinking of engineers working to realize the production of things useful for people and society [1]. Engineering, born in the 19th century, makes use of the technological aspects of the many discoveries of modern science. In general, universal technology has established a system of "explanation knowledge" that has raised technology to the status of knowledge that can be taught and transmitted by universities. Modern engineering enhances the functionality of this explanatory knowledge and transforms it into "execution knowledge" by creating new man-made objects on the basis of scientific discoveries and principles. Rolling bearings are just one instance of the man-made objects that embody engineering tribology.
