Continuously variable transmissions (CVT) attracted attention as transmissions for automobiles for their efficiency in running and their lower environmental loading. CVTs are divided into friction drive belt CVTs and traction drive toroidal CVTs. There are two types of toroidal CVTs - full toroidal and half toroidal - but the implemented CVT is half toroidal with a low spin of a traction unit [1]. Half-toroidal CVT is a mechanism, which transmits the power with shear force acting on a lubricant film under elastohydrodynamic lubrication (EHL) conditions forming between a disk and a power roller in rolling-sliding contact. In that case, specific oil with a high pressure-viscosity index - called traction oil - is used.
