The National Astronomical Observatory of Japan constructed the world's largest telescope, "Subaru," on the Mauna Kea summit (altitude 4200 m) on the island of Hawaii that is provided with the world's best observation conditions of transparent and stable air, fine weather, and the like, that, at present, demonstrates the world's highest performance as a ground-based telescope and carries the weight of expectations for great discoveries that can change mankind's outlook on the universe, and contributes to astronomical research.
