The use of soft landscaping is in decline in the UK's new developments. What can be done to tackle a worrying trend? When HTA director general David Gwy-ther had the ear of interested MPs in January, he urged them to support changes to planning guidelines that would oblige developers to include soft landscaping in new projects. Gwyther explains: "The HTA and its amenity grower members are keen to see planning policy statements (PPS) include a requirement to install and maintain more green planting in ail development projects.
