If there is a choice, a southern or southeastern exposure is best for maximum light penetration, especially when a wide variety of plants are to be grown including vegetables. A northern exposure is suitable only for plants requiring low light. Good drainage is needed. When necessary, build up the site above the surrounding area so that rainwater will drain away. Consider how the greenhouse will blend with the home and yard. It should enhance rather than detract from the landscape. If the greenhousemay be enlarged in the future, choose an area that will allow for expansion.
