Combining ability studies for yield and its components in rice (Oryza sativa L.)

The usefulness of combining ability analysis is well known as it provides an assessment of tile relative breeding value of parent materials which can be utilized in a systematic breeding programmer. Various biometrical methods have been successfully employed to assess the genetic make-up of different genotypes for developing suitable breeding methodology. One such method is the line x tester analysis, which provides valid information on combining ability effects of the genotypes. Accordingly, the present study was undertaken to estimate the combining ability, effects for yield and its components in rice genotypes.
