Strong Distillate Yield Pushes Saras Q2 Earnings Up

Weakness in gasoline margins pushed second earnings down for most U.S. refiners, but that did not happen to many refiners in Europe, where diesel is the fuel of choice. One such refiner is Italy's Saras, which had a second quarter diesel yield of 54% and, thus, had its earnings for the quarter climb 85%, to ?251.5 million. In the first six months of the year, the company earned ?329.6 million, an increase of 78%.
