The price of the August crude oil futures contract on NYMEX climbed slightly, to record close of $140.21/bbl, Friday. The Friday's gain followed a more than $5/bbl jump Thursday. The price climbed to an intra-day record high of $142.99/bbl Friday. The front-month Brent crude futures contract was also up slightly, to $140.31/bbl, closing higher than the NYMEX contract for the second straight day.
