While down, China's shale gas industry is certainly not out. Although Royal Dutch Shell and ConocoPhillips have both quit the business, and Total has suspended investment, BP has just signed up for a second shale block, six months after securing the first (WGI Nov.18' 15). And shale production is increasing, if not as fast as Beijing had hoped.
