Demand for better infrastructure has meant a lot of business for wire and cable. In addition to China, Eastern Europe is experiencing strong growth as is Western Europe. The U.S. is a mature market but it has a very big appetite for power and its power networks are considered old and not overly reliable. Environmental concerns has meant that more new interconnect cables are buried underground. Those factors translate to more need for low- and medium-voltage power cables for electrical utilities as well as cables for alternative energy sources, such as onshore and offshore wind farms. These sites, which represent new sources of energy, need to be able to transmit power back into the national grid networks.
