Unfortunately Jor Brazil's competitors, it is not just a question of an inexpensive currency and low grain prices. In the last tew years Brazil became astonishingly competitive with the rest of the world in the production ot chicken meat. Last year,the cost of producing a pound of whole, eviscerated chicken fell to just 20 U.S. cents, less than half of U.S. costs. How did they do it? The key to their recent success has been low-cost grain and a weak currency.
