The following article comes from a transcription of the talk given at the Industry Conference on the 28th October 2004 by Professor Ralph Noble of Warwick HRI. In this presentation I am going to talk about the results from two projects, an on going Horticultural Link project, "Improving the efficiency and environmental impact of mushroom composting" and a recently completed DEFRA funded project, "A biometri-cal approach to the reduction of variability in mushroom cropping experiments." Of course many factors affect compost variability but I am going to concentrate on just two factors, goody water, an essential component and raw ingredient, and spawning and spawn-running.
