Third time lucky, Volkswagen not only took the win on Rally Germany but also all three podium places! THE VOLKSWAGEN Motorsport steamroller has dominated the World Rally Championship over the last three years, but there was one conspicuous absence from the extensive list of successes and ironically it was on Volkswagen's own home territory... Rally Germany, the ninth event in the FIA World Rally Championship, was the only rally that the WRC Polo had not yet won; in fact, no German car manufacturer had ever won the Rally Germany since it has been on the WRC calendar. Current world champions Sebastien Ogier and Julien Ingrassia did win the Rally Germany in 2011, but the two Frenchmen were victorious at the wheel of a Citroen. Although they've dominated virtually all of the other WRC events over the last three years, Volkswagen hasn't exactly been blessed with luck at their home event around Trier, retiring early in 2013 and in 2014 with Sebastien Ogier and Jari-Matti Latvala in the lead respectively.
