It's not that the Scirocco is substandard - far from it - but there are a few obvious areas for improvement, both visually and dynamically, and once you start modifying it's sometimes difficult to stop... WE'VE KNOWN the owner of this stylish Scirocco GT, Clive Househam, for more years than either of us care to remember. In fact, it was way back in the late Seventies that, as young VW enthusiasts in our late teens, we rubbed shoulders while displaying our wildly customised Beetles at the VW Action event, in those days staged at the Stafford Showground, organised by none other than our publisher, Paul Harris... Suffice it to say that ideas of taste were very different in those days and the fuzzy photos of those customised Beetles will remain firmly under lock and key. We've all come a long way since then, and Clive not only turned his enthusiasm to good effect as a journalist on magazines like Street Machine but also went on to become founder publisher of 911 & Porsche World, later adding to it with several other titles in the CH Publications stable, including Performance Tuner, Ultra VW and Classic Porsche as well as Japanese Performance.
