1.4 Turbo

We've made no secret of our excitement about the new TSI engine, the supercharged and turbocharged 1.4-litre unit which is now used widely throughout the Volkswagen model range, powering the Golf (hatchback, Plus and Estate), Jetta and Touran and which will be used in the forthcoming Tiguan and Scirocco. There has even been an experimental installation in the T5 Multivan. But these are all versions with outputs of either 140, 150 or 170 PS, depending on the configuration of the engine management unit. Now, though, Volkswagen has also introduced a 122 PS version of the 1.4 TSI engine, but with an essential difference - this unit only has the turbo-charger, not the supercharger as well.
