Chronic Feline Stomatitis

Stomatitis is an inflammation of the oral mucosa that occurs most commonly in cats. All areas of the mouth may be affected. Although many factors contribute to chronic stomatitis, no single factor has been identified as a common cause in all cats with the conditon. Therefore, feline stomatitis is considered an atypical immune response of unknown origin. Some cats have underlying disease that may play a role in the development of stomatitis.
