Response to Stancampiano et al. (2013) Letter to the Editor

A recent Letter to the Editor (Stancampiano et al., 2013) described, “some small imprecisions”, or inconsistencies in the descriptions of 3 of the 64 species in our identification keys to strongylid nematode parasites of horses (Lichtenfels et al., 2008). Unfortunately, the observations of Stancampiano et al. (2013) appear to be based on errors in interpretation of morphological features or in the misidentification of species (Cylicocyclus radiatus). In order to avoid additional misidentifications of these species, we must respond to the Stancampiano et al. (2013) letter.
