Evaluation of the suitability of new greenhouse tomato F_1 hybrids for growing in rockwool in spring cycle

In 1997 and 1998 experiments were conducted to study the suitability of newly bred tomato F_1 hybrids in Research Institute of Vegetable Crops (RIVC) in Skiemiewice, Poland, grown in Czeskor rockwool. They were compared with three Dutch cultivars (Amfora, Fontana, Recento) and with Tukan F_1 earlier released in RIVC and introduced into productiofi. Most of the new F_1 hybrids were found to show good earliness and their yielding was higher than that of foreign varieties. Two hybrids: E 721 and E 726 were the most distinguishable ones in their good earliness and the highest productivity of all cultivars (including foreign controls) expressed by the highest participation of marketable yield in the total yield.
