Just because the sun has gone down there's no reason to curb your boating or fishing, indeed it can be a good time to catch fish. Story by DAVID THORNTON. When you operate a boat in the dark there are many things you need to watch out for - not the least avoiding hitting other boats! You also need to be constantly aware of how much battery power you've got to run your lights. The globes in the lights will draw a certain amount of current to run and the size of you boat's battery will ultimately determine how long they can stay illuminated. You might remember the scene in the movie Apollo 13 when the crew realise they didn't have enough amps left in the battery to restart the space craft. They painstakingly worked out the sequence of what needed to be on, and what needed to be off so that they had enough power in the batteries.
