PRESIDENTIAL ADDRESS

I deem it a great privilege to preside over the inaugural function of the 33rd National Metallurgists' Day and 49th Annual Technical Meeting of The Indian Institute of Metals, being held in Calcutta, a city with long scientific, industrial and cultural heritage. At the outset let me also extend a warm welcome to our Hon'ble Minister of Steel and all other honourable guests and dignitarics present here. The NMD is celebrated by the Institute on 14th of November every year cm the birthday of our respected first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. This is our special tribute to the architect of modern India.
