Projects To Develop Nickel Resources By Xstrata (1)

In relation to the settlement of accounts for the financial year of 2007 closed on the 31st December of 2007 as recently released by Xstrata, this company explained about the current aspects of the nickel projects in process and the followings are a summary of these nickel projects. Particularly, in this explanation, Xstrata referred to the Koniambo nickel project in New Caledonia, which has been regarded as a leader of all nickel projects, and said that the Koniambo project started the construction in 2007 and is scheduled to produce ferro-nickel on full scale from 2013. Xstrata also said that the amount of 3,800 million US dollars is required to invest in the Koniambo nickel project and SMSP ( Societe Miniere du Sud Pacifique ), which is a leading mining company of nickel ore in New Caledonia and the partner in this project, contributes around 500 million toward the project.
