RT to Invest in Mill, Close Box Plant

Norcorss, Ga.-based RockTenn Co. (RT) is making capital investments in its containerboard and kraft paper mill in Hodge, La., The News Star, (Monroe, La.) reports. Meanwhile, RT will close its former Smurfit-Stone Container Corp. (SSCC) box plant in New Hartford, N.Y., in November, reports the Observer-Dispatch, Utica, N.Y. Orders originally processed at the box plant will be transferred to a plant in Syracuse, N.Y. The New Hartford plant employs about 75 people.
