The global steel price had stayed with no change since mid April but is jumping again entering May. CRU global steel price index showed sharp increase to 266.76 in the second week of May from the first week's 257.4. It is compared with April first week's 221.9 and the second week's 237. The hot rolled band ex work price in the US increased to 1,240 dollars per ton on May 9 from 1,160 dollars of April 18.
