Several new studies and recommendations show that it probably only takes a few lifestyle changes to significantly reduce morbidity and mortality rates in men. Improving diet and lifestyle is a critical component of the American Heart Associations' strategy for cardiovascular disease risk reduction in the general population [1]. A further publication in Circulation looking at the impact of five heart-healthy behaviours on health in almost 43,000 men aged 40 to 75, showed that men who adhered to:keeping a body mass index (BMI) of less than 25 daily exercise for at least 30 minutes moderate alcohol consumption (average of half a drink to two drinks a day) a healthy diet including fruits and vegetables,cereal, fibre, nuts, legumes, chicken and fish low-intake of trans- and saturated fats and taking a multivitamin
