Rubin highlights an important implication of my study with colleagues Hacker, Rousselle, and Gold [1], and argues that "knowledge is necessary but insufficient to change provider attitudes about IUDs for adolescents." As health professionals know all too well, knowledge alone is rarely sufficient to change any health-related behavior. If it were, our jobs would be much easier. Rubin extends this notion to medical providers, who naturally have their own experiences, values, and biases that may influence their clinical practices.
